yup, I switched my '71 3/4 ton drum brakes to a '73 1/2 ton disc brake. I switched I-Beams and all, simple deal.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Yes, find yourself a '73-79 F100 or F150 donor truck and swap it all. Here's a link that explains it in detail Installing Disc Brakes on Your 2WD Pickup - Pt. 1 - FORDification.com

I have a 66 F100 that I did the disc brake swap on. I found a '78 F150 donor. It was pretty easy. Good luck."It is not much good thinking of a thing unless you think it out." - H.G. Wells

I just swapped mine cuz I had them....Not sure about the kingpin dimension---if it's the same then there would be no reason to swap I-Beams.... Hopefully one of the other guys will chime in and give you the low down!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

That article that Randy posted really spells it out. Did you read it yet?
Easy way seems to be to switch them out as a unit, like Dave suggests. The kingpin diameter changed in '75, so all '65-'74 (drum or disc) setups use one size and '75-'79 use another. They are not interchangeable.Roger
