Nope I agree with you.....................but then again it is a huge mistake to judge a book by it's cover.See what we did was for about 20yrs is buy distressed incomplete 9.90 cars, finish them out, race them for a yr,and flip sell them.Lost count on how many frames we built or finished/updated because of that.Like I said the only new car was one from Jegs.
Not unlike any other forums................you can take the advise given or not.
But rest assured I don't intend to defend myself.
Oh yeah.Yrs ago I built a back hefted Don Hardy 1975 Monza Town couple that on a frame machine check was better (straighter)than O.E.M.That one was a rust bucket when we started and is still running today and has gone threw I don't know how many wheel stand cycles. But do what ever ya want.
Yea I know they dont make it nomore half the guys in my car club is not a fan for what im doing to it even my dad said leave it the way it Is but I know in the end when its finshed this my car and I love it and nobody around me will have one like it.
I plan on starting the floors and frame rails and rearend some time in apil depending on weather is warmer.I will start a build log and post it with picks than I plan on doing the straight axle and trans in june or july
I learned many years ago not to pay a bit of attention to the "don't cut it up" crowd.... Stock and boring cars don't do a thing for me and anyway, anyone can restore a classic, takes a man to cut one up and make it better!!! If people were really that intent on preserving a car, they'd be laying out big cash for yours and restore it themselves. Money talks and bs walks, build what you want and don't let others expectations limit your imagination!!!!
Amen I agree
Lets see now--I sold mine for $900 in 1966, I'll give you $80 for yours now---
For what you seem to want to do--maybe you should luck at building up a chassis like you want with the correct wheel base and then transfer your body over on to it-----that way you will have the main rails and components without working under/arond anything and can lower your top onto it--
whichever way--you will need to put some critical braces in your body to keep all the doors/etc aligned when you start cutting into the unit body---
I plan on doing alot measuring and braceing before I cut anything. Im going to cut and replace alittle at a time.
Measure Measure Measure. Dave's right thinking is always good too.
