Yup, '58 Studepackard.........if unique is what you seek you've got a pinnacle. I'm not puttin' your car down, I like long roofs, and this one, especially with the roof rack, is '50s kitsch to the max. Done right this could be a killer cruiser. Die hard Packard people hate these death rattle cars, and they are a definitive example of a dying marque trying too hard to avoid the inevitable. Enjoy it.
Very unique, should make a cool hotrod. What are your plans with it?
If you needs parts/pieces etc i know a guy that has a bunch of stuff for them as well as kaisers and some studes.
I need a couple trim pieces in the back. It's pretty complete outside of that. As far as plans for now I just want to get it fixed up and roadworthy and maybe go restomod in the future when I get a few of the other project's out the door.Quote:

50s cars are the best in my book I really love the gaudy ones.I have always been a fan of 58 fords,58 chevies and I love the big finned cars ( These are 42 inches) One of my all time favorites is the 58 Packard Hawk and this is like a wagon version of that so I'm pretty happy with it. It does have Packard hawk engine(4.7 studebaker)minus the blower(a guy in Massachusets still has the supercharger from my engine) This one is likely to end up with a Chevy under the hood someday.
I think it's extremely weird & cool!!!:cool: So much so that I'd be afraid to cut it up or alter it much. In fact, I think the stock one in the link on Bug's post would be a nice way to go with it. Sometimes the factory design was so "out there" that trying to "update" it or "customize" it fails miserably. Of course, there are exceptions to that rule. After enough time passes, sometimes things that looked ridiculous when new, start to look kinda unique & special. This kinda looks like one of those to me....:)
I'd say single headlights with an eyebrow like a tri-five Chevy, lose the bumper and go rolled pan on the rear, and lose the rear doors and make it a Packard Nomad---then add an LS-? with a 6 speed and go cruizin'!!!!!
No matter how it ends up it will stay pretty stock appearing except for paint and wheels although I'm thinking of not reinstalling the Packard badging just so more folks will say WTF
.... let's see - small planes landing on the roof, the hood, could be a 'copter landing pad

Since the car is obviously pretty rare... and that you won't make it into a beauty queen with body modifications... I agree with your choice of building it as a restomod. Keep those badges, if they are removed. If you don't, they may be impossible to ever find again.
The choice of wheels and paint color can give the car a look of value, which would make it seem more "special" to onlookers. I would give that some serious thought. Gold and white... or maybe color choice linked to that era, like the two or three-tone schemes including aqua or coral... or even a dark colored metallic, might enhance the kind of styling it has.
Two things we know... people will talk about it.... and you will never have another one park next to you! :-)
I wouldn't discard the badges,the rear one is pitted real bad and broken. I do have the all the letters for the hood,I'm just thinking it might be more fun if the name isn't on it,I am definitely thinking about a period likely three tone paint scheme like a lavender and green with a white top,something as bizzare as the car itself.
