The older Caddys had a telescoping/tilt wheel. Don't know exactly what years tho.
I used on in a 51 Ford PU project years ago. It came from a 77 Chrysler New Yorker.
For the Mopars they were used from the early 60 thru the end of the full size era in the late 70's. You usually saw them in the large top of the line New Yorkers and Imperials, although I did see one in a Cordoba once.
I believe the early units were telescoping only and made by Chrysler. The later units were Tilt/Telescoping and actually made by GM. They used GM Turn signal switches and there was a short adaptor harnesss to connect them to the Chrylser wiring Harness (it was kind of interesting wiring it until I found out it was a GM TS switch and color coding).
had one out of a caddy about 1975 tilt and telescopic
I have a 72 Caddy tilt and telescope column in my 39 Olds. Works great, but I cant find a custom steering wheel for it.
that is why i never used the one i had. i think it was out of a 70 caddy wheel was abit big for the car i was going to use it in and was cracking up at the time i could not find a custom wheel has that was 1981 and there was only Grant making custom steering wheels ?
I used to have a tilt/telescopic wheel from a '69 Olds 98 in my 37 Ford. I modified a custom steering wheel by cutting a slot in it for the telescoping lever. There were some other "creative" mods that we did to make it work but I don't remember what they were. The mods were covered by the horn button and a trim piece. It worked pretty well.
The reason for asking is the Astro's even through GM offset the drive train to the passenger side has limited leg room and the only real way to solve that would be to move the driver's seat back a touch.I would need to find one that was tilt, telescopic, wiper delay, and cruise.Just toying with it now and would have to go out to see what it would take to find a close crossover if there is even one out there.Don't know.
