first aid kit. 2 fire extinguishers, and eye washing station. benefits of being married to a former corpman.
just as many fire extinguisher many .. before and after my hot time ... first aid kit ? masking tape
Masking tape! That's classic Pat.
I've got several fire extinguishers and some real light first aid - but I work in the garage attached to the house and have a good supply of first aid there.
Have a commercial grade first aid kit in my office and a good one in my car - thankfully never used either except fro band aids!
2 Fire extinguishers, lots of first aid stuff in house 20 feet away.
Sorry no first aid kit in the garage but one in the daily driver that is parked in the carport next door when working in the garage. Have fire extinguisher tho and remember that all extinguishers should be check and or refilled yearly. No damn good if empty.
A few fire extinquishers (and we have had to use them too ) and some first aid stuff we keep in the bathroom. Like Pat said, we have used electrical tape in a jam to close some wound.:)
Don
Got a first aid kit,4 fire ex's, and a small mirror next to a flashlight for looking into my eyes when I get stuff in them.
Also keep the water hose handy, less messy then an ex for no-gas fires, brian
One of each here and a bunch of masking tape!
Several extinguishers, paper towels plus tape (duct or masking) for the bigger leakers, band-aids for the little ones. A pointy X-acto knife with a #11 blade for the splinters and slivers. The shop is in my drive out basement garage so anything really big, I can stagger upstairs so my DW can Tut-Tut about another wound before she wastes my valuable time and loads me up for stitches at the local urgent care (remember, I'm retired so my calendar is full).
Tim Allen Tool Kit ? CHECK! , Extinguishers? CHECK!
Two types fire ext. 4 water 5 ABC one first aid kit and eye wash at sink. And masking tape but I've found that Duct tape works best for the DEEP cuts:eek:
joe gibs assembly grease works to take the sting of of small cuts :) i use it all the time
2 fire extinglushers and first aid is in the house close by..
1 Fire extinguisher and a first aid kit plus lots of duct tape.
I was grinding on a exo-cage for a Jeep that I had welded up. I sat the grinder down to get a closer look. Needless to say the grinder had not stopped until I stopped it with my thumb. Almost took the thumb off. All I have was duct tape and tissue paper. I grabbed the TP and wrapped my hand. the blood was making a mess. I then wrapped my hand as tight as I could with the duct tap. I knew it needed a doc to look at it, but I wasn't going to leave that mess in my garage. So I grabbed some thinner and a couple shop towels and cleaned things up before the trip to the ER. Four staples and plenty of cuss words as they cleaned it out later, I was back home grinding on that cage.
First aid kit, fire extinguisher all sorts of tapes. These are must have things in the shop and in the house. You never know what can happen.
In the van and in the shop. Don't forget "Super Glue". Great for those small cuts.
No but I will shortly !
Thanks for embarrassing me, Gary! :o:LOL::)
Yeah, Got a fire extinguisher an 2 first aid kits but duct tape works great for the gashes. Also use super glue on occasions. Got an use a LOT of shop towels.
Emergency rooms? Can't afford em. I talk to a deity instead.
3- 10lb halons for no mess clean up in shop and 2 -20lb halon in house, just hold your breath. first aid kits in both house and garage plus one in each car. plus I never travel with out S & W .44.
Since my business is in (attached to) our house I have a fire extinguisher in each shop (per insurance co.) Plenty of band aids & related stuff in the guest bathroom.
Also some lacquer thinner. Works great to locate the wound.
I think the blue nitrile gloves work even better than bandaids, no blood gets out on the project(unless you hit an artery) :)
got a kit in the shop and one in the truck, its a medical truama kit just in case, but then again im a certified EMT so kinda have more than i need? but theres nothing that cant be taken care of with some electrical tape, duct tape, super glue and of course a piece of cloth and a screw driver as a last ditch effort (torniquet)
Got a First aid kit in the Glove box of the Jeep, got one near the drill press and screws in the shop, and have one Large Archaic extinguisher on the wall near the Buzz Box. And yeah, +1 to the superglue idea. Especially for razor knives cuts:whacked:
First aid kit in house and hot rod. Fire extinguisher 1 in house 5 in garage 1 in hot rod
Here's a little factoid I stumbled across reading up and studying at work last night. I stumbled across info on snake bites, and since I hunt in rattlesnake country, I've always carried a snake bite kit, since rattlers seem attracked to me! So I was surprised to read what not to do when bitten by a snake. I figured some of you would like to know too!
Toxicologists are not in complete agreement about how to treat snakebites, but most concur about what not to do.
Do not use —
•Ice, which can cause further tissue damage
•Tourniquets, which can lead to limb ischemia
•Electric shock, which is not supported by research
•Incisions into the wound, including cutting or mouth sucking, which can worsen tissue injury and may cause infection
In situations when transport to a hospital will be significantly delayed, such as in the wilderness, the Sawyer Extractor Pump, a commercially available, plunger-like suction device, is marketed as a tool to extract venom from the bite site if applied within three minutes of envenomation, but its use is not supported by current research.1,2 Likewise, the simple suction cup devices found in first-aid kits are useless.
Three fire extinguishers in the garage, first aid lit in the house but my medical bag is in the garage. :-)
Fire extinguisher in garage.............. Shop towels and duct tape........
first aid kit a must but also keep new shop rags on hand for those REALLY BIG jobs.
Yep now I see the wisdom of not dripping blood across the back yard!
Superglue for little cuts, electrical tape for deep finger cuts. If it's a bigger cut than a strip of electrical tape can handle, then it's a clean rag wrapped tight and a drive to the nearest ER. (only happened three times, and one was from a DVD player! )
As for fire extinguisher, one outside the shop, one outside the front door, one in the kitchen exit. Only had to fire one off once, and that was for the lawn mower of all things.
I think bandaids will be added to the paper towel section. Also liquid bandaid(like superglue, but actually made for cuts!:) ) I like the multiple fire extinguisher idea. We seem to have them all over the place but not smartly placed as Firebird mentioned above!
:DDuct tape & great stuff for the leakers.
framers first aid kit. a half pint, 2 joints and a band aid. in case of fire...runnoft !
