New S-10 Build
Hi all,
My wife and I are going to be building a hot rod S-10. We are both gear heads and want a road/weekend warrior. We have a 400 small block Early model 4 bolt main already. We have an idea of parts for the build but looking for info before we get started.
Brodix GB 2000 Heads 76CC
Crane Cams Duration 296/304, Lift .548/.558
Weiand 3984 - Weiand Hi-Ram Tunnel Ram Intake Manifolds
HURST DRIVELINE CONVERSIONS 17X-600-6-X Manual
This engine will not be a stroker. unless some good info comes our way and maybe we will change our mind. Right now we are working on the body since we have an iron 4 banger in it now for drivability. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated Thanks for the help guys/Gals.

The first thing you should remember is that putting in a powerful motor does not necessarily make it a hot rod.
The mounts for the new mototr must be strong along with new trans mounts and the front suspension should be upgraded for the new heavier engine. I would do some asking here of anyone who has done what you want to do and get some ideas before you go diving head first into this.

Welcome to CHR Fangsea. Having a project that you and your wife are doing together is a great idea. There are tons of S10 V8 conversions out there, and lots of quality parts available. Google S10V8 - S10V8.com Parts Store Post up some pictures as you go along.

Welcome to CHR... That's a lot of cam, hope you plan on a very loose converter to go with it! And with the big chamber heads, what pistons are you planning on using to get some compression?

At Dave the cam is about the RPM range i was hoping to make with this engine. Worked on cars but has been a few years and nothing to major. the pistons i was going to go with are Probe Pistons Forged Flat, 4.165 in. Bore, 1/16 in., 1/16 in., 3/16 in., 1.000 in. Comp. Height. the tranny i put on there was a manual 5 Speed. tried doing some resarch on how much work it would take to get that tranny to fit. and the front and rear end i know i'm going to have to swap. Hoping to make this a long and worth while project. Let me know if you think i have the right pistons not familiar with domed pistons at all.
