Hey guys,
So on the 41 Chrysler, its sitting on a 70 Monte Carlo frame, and its not sitting even in the rear. I am thinking the left leaf spring is sagging a bit, probably a inch difference between left and right.
Does anyone have a good source for replacement springs these days, or is there a block i can put between the axle and the spring? Right now it has air shocks on it, but of course this does not solve the issue.
I know that springs are cheap but....the rear springs are fairly easy to swap side to side to verify if your problem is springs.....then, you wont be crying if you buy new springs and dont need them!!

we started talking about leaf springs and are now talking about coil springs .. which do you have ?

OOPS, I assumed the Monte had coils in the back.
It's still easy to swap sides to verify the problem. I believe that spacers and rocks between leaves is a band aid.....fix the problem correctly instead of patching it.
If you were really cheap, put a smaller tire on the high side.....
A local spring shop can probably correct the problem. If you pull the springs, the first test is to turn them upside down and see if the arch is the same in both.
I had a aunt who was, let's say, "supersized". She had a husband who weighted maybe 130. She bought a brand new 62 Chevy two door hardtop.....she always drove. When the car was about 3 years old, I noticed that it had a permanent list to port sitting empty in the driveway. Maybe my aunt had a monte and you got it......

I'll ask maybe a dumb question. Has the car ever been hit? It doesn't take much to tweak a frame a little and will translate to ride height at one corner or another.
Hmm not sure about that one, the original owner didn't say if the Chrysler had been hit, from the looks of it I would say no, as for the Monte doner, not sure, I will look at the frame good tomorrow.Quote:

A monte frame is a bit wide for an old car.....was the frame narrowed in the back? Did they get that part straight? Unless they had a surface plate/jig, it would be possible to have it warp if they narrowed the frame.

So with leaf on rear it has been modified or grafted. have you looked underneath at the frame to see what modifications were made. Unless they did a super job of fabrication, you should be able to see if the front crossmember was narrowed, if maybe a front sub was grafted to another frame. And the frame may be bent slightly. 1 degree in the right place will easily translate to an inch difference in corner heights.
