Hi, thanks, that is a good idea. Not sure why I did not think of that, and I was far from a math major so that makes sense. Thanks again, Tom

If I remember right the metal is double thickness there. The underside of the hood is dimpled where the pins go...If you have the Yanko hood it cold be marked with a small dent at the right point. Front to back is easy they go in the core suportCharlie

If I remember correctly the hood pins were mounted in the same threaded inserts on the core support where the hood adjuster pads were (the threaded studs with the rubber pads on top that you could turn to raise/lower the corners of the hood for proper alignment). These rubber pads would touch the hood where Cffisher said the dimples were. Here's a pic of the '67-'69 Camaro hood adjuster screws and pads from Classic Industries catalog.

BTW, when we replaced the adjuster screws and rubber pads in exchange for hood pins, we would cut a piece of the appropriate size heater hose to slip over the hood pin to cushion the hood when closing and keep the hood corners at the proper height.Last edited by Mike52; 04-02-2011 at 07:29 PM. You bet. I use the scaling approach on lots of things, trying to figure the right proportion placement. If you can't get an actual, or if your hood's not marked it will get you in the right ballpark. If you have a picture from a dead head on perspective that's a bonus!Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
