it would have to be a piston with the same or close CH then look at bore size .wrist pin bore can be re work to a floater with a bushing if needed. i do not know of a piston that size bore 3.562? forged . it could be a custom only piston.. i know the bigger 6s used a 283 piston bore size 3.875.in the 250CID ??? i think you have the same stroke crank as a 250

A 194 has the same stroke as a 230, 3 1/4". the bore is 3 7/8, like a 283. The 250 has the same bore as the 230 with a 3.53" stroke.
I don't know of any other pistons that will fit the 194 either, though. 283 slugs will work in a 230, 307's in a 250. Not enough wall to bore it over 3/10" to make a 230. Might as well find a bigger engine, like a 292? Or a 250. Keep the 194 head, more squeeze.
I'm thinking this engine is a dinosaur and I need to quit putting money into it!

well good for you the POPE... CH of the 194 is about 1.792 so a .283 is 1.800 but bore is to big the only forged piston that small of a bore and could work? is v6 buick and the ch is around 1.500 so you would have to find a longer rod . yes i see it should be 230 crank and not 250 cid:rolleyes: i slip on it ..... it was a long day making wrist pin bushing and boring the pin end of a set of bbc folwer rods

Maybe the only pistons you'll find for it are rebuilder specials, with a reduced compression height. That will play hell with your squish and static compression ratio, neither of which are desireable. I would go with a more popular motor that I could get parts for. A 250 with a tall rear gear, 8.0:1 to 8.5:1 static compression ratio and very short cam (192/204 @0.050" tappet lift) might be my choice for a gas-sipping daily driver. A cam such as the Crane 200511 would offer brute low end torque, smooth idle, fuel economy, a cruise rpm of 1600-2200 and an effective operating range of 800-4200 rpm's. I'd use equal-length, tuned headers (3 pipes into each collector, X pipe before the mufflers, 2" pipe to the rear bumper.
there nothing wrong with a cast pistons .just deck it till you get the piston were you want it not a big deal i do it all the time

between decking blocks and changing rod lengths----lots of hp
yep resting up big day tomorrow going to see how many BBC i can deck in one day have 4 to do.i just tune in the cutter teeth i have to sharpen them about two times a year mill works nice but i run the feed very slow to get the finsh i like so it abit slower then i like
