i have an 81 ford f 150, 351 w ,,, my truck will run for 15 or so min and then shut down,, there is no fire to the distributor,, but the coil is still hot,, and then i wait 10 min and it will fire up again,, i have had the icm checked and new coil and distributor,,, and wiring harness,,, what else could it be,,, please help

They were famous for ignition boxes going bad. For the longest time i had a spare box bolted beside the regular one on the fender well, when one started to act like yours i'd plug the other in and go on my way. After a while they seemed to get the boxes right and i no longer keep a spare. I had (still do) a '77, mid eighties, and mid nineties ford trucks and i think they all took the same box. I recall useing the same box on the '77 and the mid nineties truck, i used them both for towing (460 motors) and couldn't afford to have either of them break down.
Anyway, i'd be replacing the box. Esp if you drive along, feel the power go away and comes back on with a ferocious back fire - you don't let that happen twice.
My 74 460 truck did that when it was hot enough out to need the a/c. Ford had changed about everything on it except the box. One day when it quit I was in front of a liquor store, I went inside, got a bag of ice, laid on the box and in 2 minutes it would start and run----replaced box and no more troubles---
funny this post came up---I just ran across that box cleaning out bottom drawer of a cabinet today---
That sounds like the classic old Ford ignition module problem to me. But he said he had it tested,only problem with the test is they can't simulate the heat.
I'd either get another box and have it ready to hook up next time it happens, or maybe better yet try Jerry's bag of ice approach on the old box. Like you my first thought was the ignition module.Quote:

I had the same in a `77 ford f150, it would die just driving down the road, push in the clutch hit the key and fired right up, after a week of that I replaced it, no more trouble...
