4" dropped I-beam with split wishbones tie rod clearance
I have purchased a 4" dropped Super Bell axle (I-beam style) and reversed eye spring to use in my 31 roadster pickup. I plan on using a vega cross-steer setup, and want to use the split wishbones that were on the car when I bought it. The car had an undropped I-beam in it when I bought it. I do not want to go to the expense of bat-wings and a 4-bar or hairpin radius rods. Paul Horton street rods advertises a "deep dropped spindle arm" which is used to prevent clearance issues between the tie-rod, drag link, and the split wishbones, for $130.00 Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid here, but #1--will there be a problem (I haven't made this change yet), and #2 why can't I heat and bend my own spindle arm with a torch and accomplish the same thing. (I am aware that it should air-cool, not be quenched).Old guy hot rodder

Yes you can heat and bend the spindle arms. That's how it's been done for many years.
