newbie question # 2

I just set my engine mounts today but I have not welded them yet. I would like to get some in put from ya all before I weld them up.
I had to mount them where the frame has a curve in it. I was going to grind the mount to match the curve but I was a bit worried because all I have is a cheap 90 amp flex core .030 welder.
I ended up cutting a tight hole the shape of the mount and resesed the mount 3/4 of a inch in the frame.
My theory is if my crappy welds would brake,the mount being resesed will add extra support and keep my engine from hitting the ground.
I have seen some where a plate was shaped to the frame, then the mount grinded to fit the plate and then they were welded together and then welded to the frame.
now for the question, wouldnt the way I plan to do it be just as strong?

It'll be fine. You would be surprised how little material it takes to suspend the motor. Most guys use about 800% overkill.

With weld on all four sides, a two-year-old could stick it good enough to hang the whole car from one mount. Don't worry about it breaking.
