How to get from inverted flare to NPT??

all right guys, obviously I'm not a mechanic, and so the variety of fittings still leaves me stumped sometimes. why in the hell 3/8" can't just be 3/8" is beyond me.

I went with stainless fuel line. I ordered 3/8" inverted flare nuts for the ends, and THOUGHT, wrongly I know now, that these would fit 3/8 npt.

So everybody that has used steel lines, how in the f*&# do you get from the hard line to the other lines?

If there isn't an easy solution I'm sending this s*&T back and getting aluminum and saying the hell with it.

The best place to find those adapter fittings in brass is Ace Hardware,take along a sample of what you want to join together and you will be in business,got everything I needed for my fuel and brake lines.

Thanks a lot Jeff. There's a good Ace here in town, if they have what I need then I won't be sending things back and can start running lines. I appreciate the advice.

Forget the inverted flare, the stainless might be hard for you to get a good flare on

use 3/8 npt X 3/8 compression (nut and sleeve) also available at Ace

You can get good help at Snow White or Fresno Speed and fuel, both have large selections. It's a bitch working with npt to flare to compression to metric to AAAARRRGGGHH, etc, I used to run back and forth a lot before really understanding the differences. It'll come to you though..

Pick a system and stick with it.
I do alotta hydraulics and pnuematic work.... I keep a huge selection of 37degree jic fittings and adapters. Plus if you buy bulk hose and make your own aeroquip hoses you can reuse the ends at any time.

Thanks 68RATVT, They did come through for us actually on a fitting for our fuel pump on the 429, it was odd for some reason I can't remember. my uncle's friend is good buddies with one of the owners their (can't remember if it is white or snow). I think we're on the right track now. only need 3 fittings I think after I mapped it all out on paper again, knowing what is missing now. what a PITA this is. :D
