    1972 mercury comet

Hi guys, sorry I havnt been on in a while. Ive been moving into a house. Anyway, It looks like I will be getting a 72 mercury comet 4 door from my brother in a few months and would like to learn a little more about the car. It has a 302 with an automatic tranny and the interior looks exceptionaly nice. The body is straight other than the broken grill and a dent in the hood. And for the most part, the car runs great. The odometer says 36000 but it may be rolled over. Im thinkin about makin a nice little cruiser out of it. Here are a few questions for ya.

    1. Is it a c4 tranny?

    2. What rear end is in it?

    3. What is a reasonable potential for power with good street ability with these stock heads?

    4. How much power could the rear suspension safely handle? (It has leaf springs)

    5. What engine mods do not hurt the value of the car?

    Thanks guys

    1-yes
    2-8" Ford
3-4bbl intake, street cam, headers, ignition work, 275-300 is not too hard to get.
    4-More than a 302 will make.
5- What value? Seriously, if you want to make money, get another hobby!
