A wiring question, really wish I could read a schematic

Just when I was feeling confident in my wiring abilities I run in to this mess.

I am putting 2004 Olds Bravada power/heated seats in my 1937 LaSalle that utilizes a 1992 Suburban wiring harness.

Basic question: How do I make the Bravada seats move?

I have the switches and the seats, but I have no idea how to wire them. I assume the drivers and passenger seat need to be wired together to make the memory seats and such work. However, I really just want to make them move so that I can get to the brake master cylinder mounted under the drivers seat.

Autozone online has the schematics, but they are all gibberish to me.

Please help.

Can you provide a link to the schematics so it is easier for us to help?

12 volts to them ? that all you need is to find the main feed i put a set of full power seat s in a 55 chevy should come off the drivers side if you have the harness to the seats?

That's what I was hoping. I have a power seat 12 volt feed from the Suburban. I splice it in to the the heavy gauge wires on the Bravada seats, but nothing.

The car shouldn't need to be running or anything would it?

Is there some safety switch that I need to wire/bypass? There isn't a special seat module or anything else I might need, is there?

i would like to see the plug or colors of wires you have there should be motors under the seat look at wires and color try grounding the seat try hot off the fuse box that that s hot or look to check if your 12 volts is hot ? with a tester you should fine whats going on you need to look to make sure your 12 volt feed is hot is it ? then ground the seat it should not be hard to find the hot on the seat .sure the switch is good on the seat?

Here are the pictures of the wires from the drivers side and passenger seats. I have confirmed that I have a steady 12 volts coming from the wiring harness.

I thought about a bad ground, but would it register voltage if I was too far from a good ground. Would I splice a ground in with the big black wire?

This is the passenger side. The wire nuts are not a permanent option. Wire colors are:
Black-big
Orange-big
tan
grey
orange
blue

brown

black/white stripe

all orange are hot or feeding hot to some thing your other seat ? all wires plug in to other seat .so all wires here are you feed coming out your master switch ? did you try to wire up all the orange and just ground one of the brown wires to something ? the big black need to have a good ground with power hot check others wires with a test ligth you may be something missing here ? you look to have a relay and there other things going to that switch so look at your power seat only and look at the color wires out of it them smaller wires could come around and feed another switch on the pass side ? so green and gray black are just two wires ? i see auto windows and locks

Can't get to the schematics at the moment but don't forget that there is a safety on most seats that prevents them from moving unless the car is in Park (would be a wild ride if you could adjust while driving). Pat's idea of running a hot direct to test will work as long as the relay to prevent movement is out of the circuit. Will try to look at the schemes later if I have a chance

I was afraid there may be a safety switch of some sort.

The wires I have in the pctures are strictly what is coming out of the seat. There are seat controls on the side of the seat, but the heat controls and memory switches are separate.

Right now I would be happy just to have the basic seat controls.

Please show me a wiring diagram with this saftey feature.

There are 7 differant wiring diagrams for the power seats for an 04 Bravada. They also had a power seat module in the circuit. And depending on whether the car has lumbar and heated seat option. The wiring is differant from drivers to passenger side.... may wanna look for another option or purchase a wiring diagram from the dealer.

I think the power seat module is intact and still mounted under the seat. Looking closer it appears that all the factory connectors are in place and they cut the wiring harness leaving me about twelve inches to work with.
