at least you have a Garage A!
Well mines not quite that bad, but it still looks like a bomb went off in it.
I'm doing some tempory work on the local Fort (one of the reasons I haven't been posting too much lately), plus all the parts finally came in to finish up my 77 Mustang. With any luck I should have the car running later this week and then the 2 day job of cleaning the shop before I can really start enjoying driving it.
yeah I guess to people without a garage its nice but I guess if I didn't have one all my crap would be next to the cars under a tarp, the bad part of it all is somewhere under that stuff is the A and my 85 mustang gt
85 was the last year fot carberators right. I had a buddy that had a project GT with T tops
yeah it is saved it from high school kids and drag race distruction, It was the last year for carb first year for the roller cam, last year of the 7.5 posi rear. I wish it had the t tops too but I had an 86 gt with them and in Illinois they rust in the roof so bad that I scrapped the car out when the windshield and pilars started to pull away and moved on to this one. Wish I could find my 85 under all of the stuff in the garage so I could put the rebuilt motor back in it and be able to get it out in the spring.
Well my garage and barn are filled with nothing but old parts and cars. As it is im trying to work on my dodge roadster in a lean to shed I call my machine shed.
I wopuld build mine outside if teh City would let me.
I will be building my Benz outside but, I live in the sticks.
Oh man.!!......My shop is 30x60 with five lofts...all full of goodies of course....Every year I have a spring cleaning day or two....every year I spend endless hours up at the local parts yard looking for all the useless junk I threw out.!!....Thats it.!!...I ain't tossing a single lockwasher from now on.!!....
Hahahah, I have found a principle at work and this is it. If you want to find a part which you know for fact you own, the quickest way to locate it is by buying a replacement for it!Quote:

:) ...Ya hit the nail on the head Typhoon.........My shop is pretty organized...but....there are days........Its like......."Can't see the forest cause of all the damn trees"...... ...........Ya do know of course...If ya drop a certain part on the deck...simply drop an identical part in the near vicinity..Presto.!!!..The missing part is found.!!......And I am not making this up...(Dave Barry)..:whacked:......Damn.!....Had to hit EDIT again.:whacked:
Sadly, my garage is tidy.
I cant paint.....no compressor and paint stuff.
Cant weld.......no bottles or old steel.
Never fabricated anything....no big cutters or folders.
A few sets of tools and an engine hoist is all the gear. And a plastic crate with a few parts mostly hoses and about 6 wheels and tyres.
So...if you have a mess, it probably means you are better equipped at fixin', building or modifiying anything a lot better than i'll ever be. The endless pleading with ones self about enroling in some night classes to learn which is the wet end and the hot end of a paint gun or a welder go back years.
I will do it.
Have pride in ones mess.
Yeah, what is with that, idiot??? When I go through my garage and I am looking for a certain part and just ‘bout the time when I start feeling like an idiot, it is as if I am magnetically draw to a certain shelf, and if I look hard enough, sure enough, the damn thing appears. What is with that, idiot?Quote:

Don't get me wrong idiot, it is not as if I am superstitious, I am not an idiot, I know better, you are the idiot and I do not want to take that title away from you. But what is with the part appearing after you give up looking?
And HEY, idiot, the thing doesn't stop there. The damn thing follows me into the kitchen, idiot! I go to the fridge........... don't laugh, idiot, I know you are with me on this. I kid you not! I am scared to death of asking my wife for the thing which is right in front of my nose. I do not want to look like YOU.
You know what happens to a guy after a while of being called an idiot once to often...>>> you start believing it, you internalize it! You actually think it is within your name!!! It is as if it is your calling, your character!
Anyways, I go to the fridge, idiot, I open the door, and all I need is ketchup. I have the potato fries in one hand, and the door in the other. The light is on, but it is as if nobody is home. My wife is watching TV in the other room and she can not see me. I have been here many times before. I look in the door, then glance on the shelves of the fridge, and sure enough the damn thing is gone!
I consider for a moment of calling out to my wife, but my former confrontations have taught me to shut up. I have been called an idiot once to often and this is the time, yes this is the day that things will turn around for me. I will conquer.
Just then she appears around the corner. I am devastated! She asks me, “what are you looking for dear”? I reply, “nothing sweetie, I was just taking inventory”!
She pours herself a glass of water and heads back to the other room. The fridge door is now closed. I decide that it is safe and I open the door to the fridge once again, she hears the door opening and says, “can I help you with anything”? I bravely say, “Nope, just looking”.
Now I proceed to hold the plate of fries next to the shelves, nothing, I hold it next to the shelves in the door, nothing. I give up. I close the door and I place the plate on the counter next to me and guess what I see. What is with that, idiot?
I have a 15x30 garage attached to the house. Out back I have a 16x30 and a 16x40 Garage joined by a 22x26 machine shop. All three are cluttered with tools, parts and cars. I can search each garage twice sometimes and still not find what I'm looking for. What I do find is what I was looking for the last time. Maybe that's why I'm always behind schedule with all my projects.
AL
Whats with that.???...."Ya can't see the forest cause of all the damn trees"..............."I got so much going on I don't know whats going on."..........." The left hand doesn't have a clue what the right hands doing.".......Sometimes when I go snooping thru the frig my mind is still searching for that wigget that I know damn well was RIGHT THERE.!! a few ago.....The ole Sarge is always so helpful...directing me to all the different colored containers that one can't see thru..Since I can't ever make up my damn mind half the time I simply give up....I think our brains computer goes to overload.:whacked: .....At least your refrig is in a different room...Ours is in sight of the living room..I'm in a direct line of fire.!!!.. ......
Hahahahaha!
 ..Hey Al....don't that just chafe your chaps...(cowboy talk).........Ya find something that you were looking for last Monday.....SOMEONE has been here and put that darn thing back.!!...I took this bench APART on Monday and it WAS NOT HERE.!!..And then I think....." I don't let a living soul in here."....Ok it was me...and then and then....A guys asks..."you happen to have a wigget to fit a duceldorf.??"....."yes I do I think to myself"....After looking for an hour or two it dawns on me that I used that part in 1976 on Mike Dinglefrirtx's Ford.!!..... ....:whacked:
Mine actually on the average stays pretty clean. I have parts in the attic cataloged on a sheet of paper at the bottom of the stairs. When parts start getting harder to find, I usually shut down and clean. By the time I've got the place back in shape the part usually shows up. If I don't keep it clean I end up spending more time wondering around looking for stuff than working on the car. So it's faster to just clean it up. This particular shop is for the car only, so it doesn't get used (messed up) on a daily basis.
I've got to go get a tank of argon today. I think when I get back I'm going to clean the shop.:HMMM: :HMMM: **)
I wish I could put what I had all down on paper or keep tracked of it, I'd probly loose loose some of the paper by the time I had the last paper finshed:( . I think I have 100lb cylinder of propane 2 o2 and 2 acet. and one argon somewhere in there damned if I know. Feel free to post your mess or organized shop or garage its so cold I but I am trying to focus on getting rid of some junks and putting things in they're place I am glad I am not the only one wish I had barns, hangers and loft but I would probly get more stuff and be worse off than I am right now, at least with the snow the village is being lazy about inop. vehicles and proper storage of car parts.
**) ..That does it.!!.....I ain't stopping by if I gotta leave the crapper seat down.!!...Geez....:whacked: :whacked:
crapper seat what is that my shop doesn't have one of those things I do have some bushes on the side of my garage and a gate where the no treaspassing signs affixed..."just make sure you close the door when you're done"....so the the village stays out ya know.
The mind is a strange machine ,it remembers every little thing
you have experenced in your lifetime.problem is how to access the data base ie you know you have the part but wher ethe hell did you leave it?if you dont succeed first time around do something completely different and let the subconcious take over after an hour or two I get an urge to check out a particular spot
and there it is ,and ive got about 4500 sq ft of floor and some
seeing as i have to get rappelling gear out to negotiate most of it i do pretty well
The side of the building does not work for some of us, I think a "crapper" is going to be a muct for my dream garage. Yes boys you will have to put the flamed seet doen! LOL
I should have rephrased that bowtie...all dirty shop dogs use the side of the garage and the ladies can go up to the house and use the civilized facilities. Even if my dream shop had a turlet or the imfamous "crapper" I doubt any one would want to use it eventually seat up or down, after some of the shop toilet I have seen and been forced to use its better not having one. I think I will just have an account set up with porta johnny:)
Sounds like a great shop Streets, ya got a pics of the inside of it? Love to see what a real orginized shop really looks like. Maybe give me some ideas for one I'm thinking about building,,, but not quite as big as yours tho. :3dSMILE:Quote:

Thanks,

I watched American Chopper last night and half the show was about Paul Sr. complaining about the shop being a mess. He threatened to fire Vinnie if the shop gets too messy. He'd have to be an idiot to fire someone as talented as Vinnie for such a stupid reason. If he hired a cleanup guy then he could complain and threaten somebody that's easy to replace.
I don't think threats are a good way to motivate employees.
I was foreman at a machine shop with 10 guys under me and it was always clean and nobody got stressed out over it. Everyone was responsible for keeping their own machine and workbench clean and on Fridays we quit work 15 minutes early for a complete cleanup of the whole shop.
I guess I need some employees in my garage so it would always be clean. It's so much easier to tell somebody to clean it up than to do it myself.

The room my car is in is pretty small. If I leave a hammer and a 9/16'' on the floor by the chassis, the place looks cluttered!!
Pull out the welder and a couple other usefull items and it's a maze!
