the tcs is transmission controlled spark its a nox device retards the timing in the lower gears to reduce oxides of nitrogen (nox) they also had an electric idle solenoid it was a stepper motor when the it poped out and you would adj. the idle with it that was so they could run a vary lean idle they used what is called the lean idle rpm drop method of adj. the idle d.i.y. er mechanic did not understand the sys.so the unplugged the wire and set the idle so on a hot day they couldn't under stand why when they went to the store turned the ign of went in and came out with a six pack they thought the motor was running backwards but it was actually dieseling thoes were the not so good old days of primitive pollution devices and sealed idle mixture screws believe me you don't want either of those devices .......ted
