.045 is great. In the olden days those HEI modules wanted .060.
You want enough "jump" to create hot firing. Too much gap could cause "flame out" conditions.
The module usually is the piece that demands what gap use use.
Until it gets into the "blown" alky applications, you need to stay in that .045 range.
