brake light ??
Howdy.
The brake light was on, on the 76 nova I am working on. Went through the brakes, found the rear brake cables siezed up, one rear servo locked up, one rear shoes cock-eyed, one drum bad, both front discs bad, one front pad set bad.
Replaced the whole mess with parts from a 78 firebird which had been recently rebuilt, so all the parts are practically new. Swapped in hoses, calipers, pads, discs, shoes, drums, servos, rear hard lines, new rear hose and new rear ebrake cables.
Flushed then bled the system. Now the brake light is still on.
Tried the brakes out, going back and forth in the driveway ( FAST ). At first the brakes would lock up soon as I touched them, probably just the surface rust on the calipers. After a few passes, they started working pretty good, but light is sitll on.
What do I do next? I've not had this problem before. I seem to remember hearing something about resetting the proportional valve, but don't remember exactly. I have the prop valve, master cylinder, and booster from the firebird if I need them..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
