Best $ 12 I've spent in a while!!

Stuff in our shop seems to walk away and hide at night, I swear there are some Gremlins who live in there and have it in for us. We have like 5 or 6 tire pressure gauges among us, and I can never find one when I need it.

Today I went to Advance Auto to buy a new one and saw a digital one for about $ 12.00, so I bought it. When I got to the shop I checked the tire pressure in my T and found one front tire at 18 lbs, one at 23, one rear at 23.5 and one at 24.5. I pumped them all up to exactly 25.0 on the new gauge and went to breakfast in the T. What a difference in handling. I could one hand it down the road and it hasn't ridden like that in a long time.

For giggles I checked Don's T and his tires were all over the place too, so I put them at 25.0. Even my Honda daily had 30 in one, 32 in another, 32.5 in the third, and 39.5 in the last one! :eek: I have been using one of the conventional tire gauges with the pop out scale, and I guess it wasn't all that accurate.

Now if I can just hide this new gauge where the "Gremlins" can't find it I should be ok. :D:D

Come on don, you have to love the gremlins. Just offer them a sacrificial token from time to time and they will leave stuff alone.

It`s funny how guages never read the same, the ones at the gas station seem to be the worst.

My wifes hhr has a reading of all 4 wheels in the dash, and it`s weird to watch the pressure changes as you drive. You can see the reading change from start up to when they get fully heated.

I always say to myself "here, I'm putting this where I will remember it is when I need it", then I can never remember where that place was. :o

Funny thing is, you ALWAYS find stuff in the LAST place you look............you should just LOOK THERE FIRST! :whacked::whacked:

I bought one of the digital guages about 3 years ago. I have 4 standard guages, but seem to get different readings from each. So I got the digital. But do I assume the digital is correct or one of the others??. Do I check them all and the ones that agree become the correct unit??

And where to I find the people who have the absolutely most accurate air quage? I mean is there an atomic air guage like the atomic clock??

Any way, I tossed my digital in the console of my wife's car and forgot about it until 3 months ago, when I found it again. Now I have it in the ash tray of my car. Hopefully I won't lose it again, but I still don't know what guage is most accurate.:eek::LOL::LOL:

Well, the package said "extremely accurate", and you know they can't lie Bob. :rolleyes::D:D

What I did do was go back a little while later and recheck the tires on both cars, and it came up 25.0 again on all 8, so at least it seems consistent. Plus, as my eyes get worse I had a hard time reading that pop out thing on the other kind.

I got a tire chuck from HF, the 1 with the bar on the side that goes out like normal tire gauges, but it has a trigger valve and fills tires.. it cost $5 on sale.. I checked it's accuracy by turning my compressor regulator to 32 PSI and filling a tire.. when it stopped filling, the gauge read 32 PSI. so I know it's dead accurate

I hear yah on the where the heck did I put thing. I must have two or three sets of wrenches and sockets, yet never seem to find the one I need! My favorite is utility knives there must be ten floating around here, yet on a good day I can only find one!:CRY:
Good tip on the accuracuy though, I'll have to pick one up and give it a try on the Daily commuter. When the pressure is even slightly off on the Highlander, it feels like a boat!:D

Out of all the wrench and socket sets we have, almost every one is missing the 1/2 and 9/16 sizes. I know they are within the 4 walls of the shop somewhere, but where do they go? :confused: Same with the 10 mm and 13 mm sizes.

When Dans car is done we are doing a major cleanup and organization. Bet we find stuff we haven't seen in years. :LOL::LOL:

Just keep a few of the cheap "stick" gauges around as sacrificial items for the gremlins, and hide that good digital where you will be able to find it. Har!!! ;))
