2 bolt main to a 4 bolt main
Is it possible to make a 2 bolt main into a 4 bolt main? I want to....if possible....take it to a machinist and have him drill it.

It's possible, but expensive. Some of the strongest production based blocks started as 2 bolt mains. You just bolt up a new splayed cap and drill holes to match the outer bolts, then line bore and you've got a very strong 4 bolt main.

Yes you can have it done. I've seen the conversion caps go for less than $100, add that to whatever your machine shop wants to charge for drilling and you are set. As stated above engines that are converted to splayed cap 4 bolt are generally stronger than the factory 4 bolts.

Oh, cool. Now, for a harder one, is it possible to convert webbed main into solid? Mine are usually capped before it sees use, but some nice blocks in olds are webbed. Solid mains offer just a little low end security. Any ideas.Right engine, Wrong Wheels

what is the difference between a webbed main and a solid main? I would like to know what I have.
Damn, that's something I didn't want to hear. I'm glad I got to meet him and Rosie and Rick. I'm proud to have had him as a friend, RIP Johnboy
