gas tank gauges
I'm using the stock gas gauge on my 40 packard and am replacing the lunched tank sending unit with a GM model. Does any one know what kind of resistor I need and where it goes to make the gauge work right?

I think you will have to find out what your original gauge resistances were and what the chevy one is and make sure they are the same. Some gauges read empty with no resistance, some read full, and if you use add a resistor is it going to be the same so it reads accurately full and empty. The easiest would be to get a guage made for your sending unit or a sending unit made for your gauge. I'm just guessing here. I think you could add a resistor anywhere in the sending line to the guage.Last edited by kenseth17; 02-01-2004 at 06:49 PM.
