Is 18 gauge a good thickness for replacing floor pans?
14-16 is more typical for replacement pieces. 18 could work if you have frequent braces or could roll in some ribs or are spanning very short openings to very solid existing structure.

I agree 18 gage is only .048 thickness.Having worked with sheet metal the thinner the material the easier it is to form,but moves around when welding.IMOQuote:

I'm going to have to use some of this to make inner rockers and the floor braces weld to them. I think I'll take a little piece of the old rocker with me to see what's close.
