Tri power help...

I finally got my three dueces on, connected and running!!!! But, when I rev the engine to the point that the secondaries open, the center carb will Pop or backfire as they first open. If I rev it slowly to the point of where the secondaries will begin to open, then the engine "bogs down - or hesitates. I have heard that the floats in the fuel bowls must be set exactly right or the secondary carbs can be too lean or rich... Is this what would cause the center to backfire? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. I'm so close to getting these things running... thanks - kip**)

While this is not an anwser to your question, I thought I would mention that the current issue of Rod & Custom has a good article on carbs, accelerator pumps and ethanol.

Reason I thought about it was that the article was discussing Rochester 2G's and 2GC's (among other carbs) and some problems similar to what you were having. May not be your problem, but still a good read.

I had the same deal with mine... You need more gas, it's gulping too much air..You could be bringing the secondaries in too early too.

Your floats might be off as if there to low, the carb isn't getting enough gas as it should(lean). To high and it's rich. Your could also have the wrong jets installed. I don't know what block your running but I think the average for a sbc is 55 primaries and 57 secondaries.
