Ok here is the thing I am looking for some Mufflers I need to stay on the cheep side. Would like them to be on the deep quiet side and sound good I don’t want some loud Mufflers that will be calling the cops all around me
the engine is a 396, cam is .050 216/216 .515 lift with Exhaust Manifold

yeah it is a bit Mild i am runing 9.5:1 compreshon some day ill upgraed it has .515 lift two
best way to get a deep sounding exhaust is to have fairly large pipes.. 3" or 3 1/2"... and run them all the way to the back with the mufflers up front.. close to the manifolds.

glasspacks are cheap and have a nice deep sound at idle and low rpms
and sound pretty good if your gettin on it too.
for a good sound that is not a glasspack or a mild one flowmasters are quite good. and they hold up very well.
Too big of an exhaust pipe will reduce your engine's performance. Set up you system by choosing the best muffler for the task. Pipes should not be much larger than 2" - 2.5".
i prefer the sound of a raptor turbo muffler over a flowmaster. it just seems a car with flow masters sounds just like every other car with flowmasters i ahve a pair and really dont like them. but since i only drive the steet once or twice a year it dont matter haha.

Like has been mentioned, the old Corvair turbo mufflers and various knockoffs have been used many times and breathe pretty well. I had some on my Jeep and also on various other cars over the years. Cheap and they work well.
