I second or third that, the bumpers look amazing. I had a nasty thought looking at the pictures, I hope you are not selling this one so soon after finishing it ? I can't explain why that thought jumped into my thick head.
Car looks great. Doesn't look like you have much left before driving.
Are those Briz bumpers? I came to this thread late. You may have already said where they came from.
Thanks, they are Briz bumpers. This one won't get sold, it was a gift from a good friend with the stipulation that I finish it and not sell it. The guy is retired and was a member of my church, the car was a gift from his grandpa for his 16th birthday. He drove it all through high school and college and his kids drove it, too. He started to restore it but never got past disassembly and when he retired from being a union electrician, him and his wife decided to sell their home and buy a small place. He didn't have a place for the car and hadn't touched it in twenty years. He found out I was a car guy and asked me if he were to give me the car, would I promise to get it back on the road and keep it? As soon as it's on the road, I'm taking it to his house for a visit. He never has come to see it, he wanted to wait until it was done.
You know pictures from that encounter will be a must. Bravo, not too many people would take on something like that.
Great story.
Maybe you could get a car mag journalist to cover the story when you show your work to the donor.
Very cool that you are doing a promise> What a gift for him to know it's running and driving.
Time to up date the Avatar with the added bumper!
just goes to show that car guys are good people. Car looks great and previous owner will be very pleased to see how well it turned out.
Yeah, he's a good dude. He changed churches to go where his kids go and I haven't seen him in a few years. But I know where he lives and plan on showing up on his doorstep in a few weeks.
Got a 48 Plymouth myself. I've had it a little over a year now but haven't done much to it. Don't really have the funding to finish it the way I want. It has a Chevy 350 with HD350 tranny, body is in really good shape, door handles have been shaved and rear tail lights set in. Red and black tuck and roll interior. It was going to be my cruiser. Thinking seriously about selling it.http://www.clubhotrod.com/photopost/...mbs/image.jpeg
Didn't get as far as I hoped this week but it's getting close. I was having a lot of trouble getting the foam carved into the shape I wanted for the front seats so I put those aside for now and bought these buckets off of Ebay. May finish the others up later and keep these for something else. I was getting frustrated and decided to just let someone else do them but the local upholstery shops said they were 2-3 months out because everyone wants their cars done at the beginning of spring. The back is coming much better; hopefully I'll have it done this week or next. Back door panels and kick panels are done along with a mile long miscellaneous list. I spent five days doing 10-12 hour days on it and have to be at work Monday so I'm taking a couple days breather.
It is looking so nice. I like those seats. Are they procars by chance?
