Digital Ignition Box,gm Hei,no Trigger Signal???please Help.

Hi Group,im Hoping You Guys Can Save Me Again!!i Just Finished Putting My Newly Built 383 In My Nova.i Ran It For The Initial Break In And It Was Awesome! My Problem Started When I Hooked Up A Summit Digital Ignition Box.i Installed It Exactly As The Manual Directed.when I Turned On The Ignition,the Led On The Box Blinked 3 Quick Times As It Was Supposed To.when I Cranked It,it Would Not Fire.i Also Noted The Led Was Not Flashing As It Was Supposed To When Cranking.i Checked All The Obvious,crossed Wires,bad Grounds,improper Connections Etc. Everything Was Right.after Rechecking Everything I Called Summits Tech Line And They Faulted The Triggering Signal.they Said Some Hei Pickup Coils Dont Put A Strong Enough Signal For The Box To Read And Fire The Coil.should I Replace The Pickup Coil?should I Get A Better Distributor?any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated!!!thanks.

You could also put an ohm meter at the white and green wires (GM) disconnected from the box of course. Have somebody crank it over and see if you get a nice variation up and down the scale while the reluctor turns inside of the pick up. If it pulses, it will trigger any decent box set up. If it doesn't variate, it's the pick up coil.

Thanks,im Going To Try The Ohm Meter In The Morning,hopefully This Shows The Culprit Although I Dont Understand How The Pickup Could Go Bad Just By Sitting For A Couple Days,well Yes I Can,and I Have Seen Stranger. Thanks!!!

I Did Some Testing And Found .06 Volts At Max From The Pickup Coil.should This Be Enough Ooomph To Trigger This Summit Box Or Should I Toss In The New Pickup Coil??? Or Screw The Whole Thing And Put It Back To Its Original Setup???

Thanks Denny,i Will Try That In The Am. 1to 2 Volts Ac. So If Its Less I Need To Change The Coil.also,off Hand Do You Know If The Oem 12volt Wire Still Gets Plugged Into The Cap At The Bat Terminal? Thanks Again!!!
