I just thought that it would be easier to put the stock ones back in. In my stock 27 T tudor they work perfectly. Never even thought about using newer ones and then I might even start looking for electric ones.

The easiest way for you Tom, is to have you know who, do it for you, I don't want to make work for him. I hooked mine to the stock door handles.
There are templates for some out there, I have seen them, I made my own. You'll need to drill screw holes, and a cut a notch in the door for the pin to pass thru like on your everyday car.
I bought mine at Ax Man's, they had a barrel full of them, at the time, for $2.50 each (double latch). :3dSMILE: about 7-8 yrs ago. I only bought 8 pair, and 7 of the chrome wiper motors with park at $6.00 each. I like bargain buys.

Does anyone have a picture of the latch on a T closed car?
I just noticed a picture in the gallery of Briansrup (you know who I mean:) ) and he has a caption that says you can't run glass with the bear jaw latches cause you have to cut out the rails. Is that true or was it just on his???? It get's too damn cold here for no windows!!
Oh yea, and who sells those weld in templates??

I've got Bearclaw latches in the Mercs, they're glass.... Also put them in a number of other 'glass cars... Must have been something specific to Brian's car.

OK, I see... Brian was referring to the window glass and tracks.... On skinny doors like A's and T's, it gets really tight putting the tracks in.... When I've encountered this before, I put the latch in the post and the pin in the door... works fine that way, too.

A second latch is always a good thing with suicide hinged doors!!!!! Doesn't have to be anything more then a sliding pin that you can flip open with your foot, but just so you have something there!!!!!Quote:

So how do you use the stock T door handle to operate the bear claw?
You're right Tom, I guess you'd have to have the latch on the door to make it work.
This is why I start asking questions before I actually start doing things. I'm still working on my gas tank and I asked about that almost two weeks ago.
If I can't add anything else, I'll add confusion!!!:LOL:
