Need to cut up my car?

I am getting ready to get started working on my vega. My question is should I install the engine before I add sub connectors and rollcage. Or would it be best to leave the weight out of the car?

The engine being in or out won't matter, what matters is that you have to get the car up on jackstands and perfectly level before you start adding subrails or the rollbar. Once those are welded in the car will retain that shape forever, so you want it to be as plumb as humanly possible. Get the tires up off the ground totally.

They really do make a difference too. After we did my Son's Capri drag car you could jack up one corner and the entire side would lift up. Before that it was like a wet noodle.

Yup, what Don said!!!!! Get the car level side to side and front to rear. Left over bits of scrap, even paint sticks work good to level out the jack stands. Having everything nice and level will also make the install go better.

I usually also put some center punch marks in appropriate places inside the car for the cage to use as a reference when fitting the bars. The more secure and plumb you have the car, the better the install will go....
