One thing I re-looked at on the difference of the two pics was the grease being used is not consistant. One trick to get a correct pattern from is not to use grease or prussian blue. It has been stated and shot down on this forum in previous posts. But, I will retell it. Spray liberally the contact surfaces of the two gears with brake cleaner, let dry. Get some aerosol foot spray powder from the store and evenly coat the area on the ring gear you want to check. It only takes seconds to dry. Run the pinion through it's pattern, both reverse and forward making sure there is drag on the load, simulating the effort it takes for the gears to move the car. It doesn't take much, just enough to wipe the dried powder off of the contact area from the effort. It leaves a perfect pattern and there is no room for mistakes when reading it.What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
