396 Big Block
I'm looking to purchase a 1968 Chevy pickup truck with a 396 Big Block, a Turbo 400 transmission, and a 308 rear end. Does anyone have any idea of the average gas mileage I can expect? Currently, my Jeep is getting 16.4 mpg. I'm guessing 12 or so. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

depends on a lot of things... mostly cam, compression, gear ratio, proper tuning not to mention how heavy your right foot is etc... my guess is 12mpg would likely be on the optimistic side but like I said it depends... For a mild 396 with a conservative gear 12-15 could be achievable...
Two cents,
