Differences between 33/34 hood/grille Questions
I just got a 33 Ford tudor sedan and would like to go with the 34 hood and grille shell if possible. I understand that I would need to get the 33 top hood pieces because there is a difference in the cowl dimensions on my 33. Question is can I use the 34 side hood panels with the 33 top panels as I want the front and rear handles.
Now the question is if I have the above hood combination, can I use a 34 grille shell? I understand there is a different in shape as the 34 grille is flat and the 33 curves out at the bottom of the grille frame
Anyway, I'm just trying to understand what my options are concerning mixing and matching these 33/34 parts on my 33 sedan. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I'm not an expert on 33-34 Fords, but I believe the cowl tops are the same.
I don't believe a '33 hood top will fit the '34 grille.
From what i've heard you need the '34 grille and a complete '34 hood and you need to cut a hole in the lower cowl sides for the rear hood latch to work.
There will be some '33 - '34 experts on the board who can confirm this.

33 & 34 hoods are very similar and can be exchanged so long as you use the same year grill...(unless you want to customize it to fit). The cowls are the same so no worry there.
The 33 grill is thinner thus the hood and sides are different than the much thicker 34 units. Lots of guys have customized 33s by adding 34 sides because they wanted dual latches as you mention. But this is not for the meek if you plan to keep your 33 grill.
If you want a 34 hood/sides, you will want use a 34 grill, hood, and sides to keep it simple. Otherwise you will have to perform surgery to the front edge of the hood and hood sides to make them fit your 33 grill.
Personally I like both 33 & 34 hoods/sides/grills. I think the 33 is more elegant due to its curve and thin design while the 34 has a more bold classic design due to its straight and thicker grill.
Have fun!
