ideas
I'm going to be changing my exhaust system to side mounted chrome stacks. I now have holes cut in my roll pan for the exhaust outlets and I don't really want to fill the holes back up and was wondering if any of you had some ideas. Maybe cut part of bumpers amd weld them to frame through holes or maybe putting some chrome covers over the holes. I'm open to ideas. This is what I have now.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

how about some flamethrowers or some 4 inch straight pipes with exhaust cutouts to make some noise !!!!!

Hard to say how well it would work without really being there to look at it.
I think I would incorporate brake/tail lights there, and change the current ones to clear lenses to use as backup lights.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Get some sheet stainles (aluminum could work too), cut out a frame the shape of the cutouts (something like a tombstone), my eye says something 3/4" or so in width. Then get some of that woven stainless wire mesh we often see in grilles. Polish to a bright shine. That way they'll look like intentional "hi tech" vents to releave under chassis air pressure.
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but I think lights that low are a potential problem. Following drivers are inattentive enough without putting the lights down so low that they're even more difficult to see.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

If you don't want to move the tail/brake lights down that low, what about putting the set of back-up lights in the openings? You could probably get some 4" chrome lights that would work.

COOL That's like the old Big Rigs at work . Don't let any water go down them . We had a truck that was not running very good . It had rained for about two weeks off and on . Well when we pulled the flex pipe off that stack half the shop was full of water . Now they have small drain holes .

..or a couple strips of louvered metal, about 5" wide, that wrap down under the pan. You could paint them the same color, and run a pinstripe down the edges to distract people from the seams.

I like the look of your stacks. In your picture, are the rags hiding your cab mounts? If so,great. If not ,you might want to incorperate something to brace them at that height as they will vibrate and sooner or later crack. I would also suggest you raise the turnouts almost a foot to get them up into the wind. That's for two reasons, it gets the racket further from your ears, and secondly, greatly reduces the chances of exhaust reversion back into the cab at low speeds. Hank

Hank Those rags are just there so I don't scratch up my paint. The stacks are not mounted just set up for picture taking. Your right on the height as I will probably raise them 12"Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
As a hobby I keep ten beehives. My queen bees are now getting older and slowing down, so I ordered ten more queens from an apiarist. They arrived, but there were eleven arrived in their containers....
