Mopar, funny you should say about actual miles of testing. While I havent see it advertised much lately some manufacturers seem to actually run the miles to get the results.
Remember back in the 60s it was a big thing the torture test the cars? They'd run like 4 Comets 100,000 at 100MPH around and around an oval. They'd test plugs, tires and all sorts of componments that way. I'd reckon they still do actual testing but I wonder if it's as much as it used to be?
Well, Twitch, I can only hope that they are and that they do it on all kind of tracks, in all kinds of weather, and in all climates. Otherwise they would just be guessing.
Like the EPA and DOE, when they used to test for Hwy and City gas mileages. Ran them in a building on a treadmill. No temperature changes, no weather restrictions, no wind resistance, no road resistance. Hell that was no test of real life experiences. It was nothing more than a fantasy.:eek:
That covers just about everything now day's They call it laboratory tested! They may get dirty, field testing it! and get to many results to deal with, not only the ones they want.Quote:
