123pugsy - I know what you mean, I may keep the steel frame under it and laminate ply to the top for strength!
Dave - I really like some exotic woods too, like tigerwood, and purple heart. But quarter sawn white oak with a flat oil finish would do it for me, and flooring stores might have wide planks. Good thoughts thanks!
