I drilled a hole in a tempered side glass once just to see if it could be done. Of course I was told it couldn't be:) . I used a diamond coated bore. Drilled right through. When I lifted it out of the water it disintegrated into about 2 million little pieces. So I'd have to say " nope, can't be done with tempered glass. Laminated glass on the otherhand drills easily but will stress crack if the hole isn't smooth.
