I have a chance to buy a 66 Pontiac GTO or a 67 GTO.
400 4-speed car,3.55 gear.
The other car is a 66 GTO with a 389,auto and 3.73 gear.
Both cars are numers matching or at least that is what I have been told anyway.
I have not seen either car.
I am told the 66 needs everything as far as body panels including a trunk floor.
The 67 needs rear quarters and front fenders.
Do any of you guy's know what the diference's are between the 66 GTO and the 67 GTO.
66 was last year of 389 67 was 1st year of 400 in gto

I think most of the difference was trim, grille, and the usual things they changed on a carryover year... Don't go by me though, been a long time since I messed with the old GTO's....

yes i do. this is a 66 gto the red car i know abit. the front end look the same it is not the 67 and the back of the car is not the same the roof line hood is the same hood from 65 to 67. doors are the same from 66/67 the 67 had more rocker trim i can build a 66 gto in my sleep but hey do not ask me:3dSMILE: i also can to drop a big block chevy them to**)

Does the one with a 389 have a Tri-power on it? If it does, they're not super rare; but, they are worth some fairly decent $$$$.

well my red gto was my dads car i pick it back up from the guy my mom sold it to when my dad died i was 10 years old when she sold it got the car back i was about 17 years old that car never had a 398 in it that engine went away fast .from there it all ways had chevys in it and soon to have a 731 cid:3dSMILE: they fit good did the black gto to i had both of them both big blocks at one time i had the 477 in the black car and a 454 in the red car boy them were the days thats when i could drive the black car on the street:3dSMILE: i ways said if you get past the red car i would pull out the black gto:DQuote:

well all i did was re work the wires no big deal and i used the chevy steel engine mounts off the frame off the 66/67chevelle

the gto is a A body car from GM all the parts fit like mounts so just think of it as a 66 chevelle just more sexy. where i am now with the gto i make my parts to fit headders engine mounts with the donovan tall deck 632 but a short deck big block just drop inQuote:

look at my photos i have a victor on a tall deck it just fits the the old team g intake will with a moroso i ran the 4500 holley just used a air fiter that fit the carb top and made a top out of alum and that work to i will make a new hood out of alum like the stock hood but bigger for the 731 you do not want to cut the gto hood.. well here look at this may helpQuote:
