Clear Powder Painting Polished Alumuinum

Does anyone have expierence with having polished aluminum wheels powder painted clear? I have a set of Halibrands coming and am considering having them powdered clear. I have talked to only one powder painter so far and he told me it can't be done because of contaminents left from polishing. Not sure I believe this.

Billet Specialties is doing that now. I buddy of mine used to own a powder coating co. I asked him about doing that to a set of heads and block, he didn't recomend it do to chipping from rocks and causing a corrsion spot. I can understand that.

were will be alot of contaminents in the wheel and will have alot stuff in it if there cast alum i did mag wheels with ppg dau 75 clear but never were polished

If you can figure out a way to get all the residue from the polishing off the wheel without losing the shiny before you powder coat, shouldn't be a problem.... Probably a good detergent and a lot of scrubbing should do it....
