Years ago I had a '62 Vette I built for the street. It had murals and flames, and pearl shot over the red base coat, so it was a pain to touch up. I was sitting in a parking lot with the engine running (a cammed up 301) when a shriveled little old lady opened her door into me. I knew she was too old to even notice, so I didn't get mad at her, but I was upset about the difficulty in repairing it. My wife started nagging me endlessly about why I would paint the car this way for street use? Finally, it came to me, and I told her.....

..."Because a custom painted car, with a scratch or rock chip,.... still looks far better than a boring one-color paintjob, with a scratch or rock chip"!

I don't know if others can see the logic in that, but I stopped getting upset when it would happen. :-) (BTW, I am still custom painting, but my "ex" is history.) LMAOROF!
