IMO a 460 is a natural swap for the fox bodied Mustangs from '79 to '93. You end up with a more modern platform and suspension than the earlier cars, they are available everywhere cheap, and even a mild 460 will put you in the low 12's or 11's.

Kits and headers are available to make the swap a pretty much bolt in affair, and if you want a convertible, they are just as good to do this swap. I also have a 460 sitting that was to go into our Capri, but plans changed. But we freed up a lot of space for it with a D and D front end and manual brake setup. Wish I hadn't sold the car to my Son, as it would have made a nice little 10 second daily driver.
