electronic dwell?
What is electronic "dwell" mean? I see it on aftermarket Ignition Modules and coils for GM HEI and other stuff. I would guess it has to do with the time it takes the coil to build up a magnetic field?
I am thinking it is BS and the stock GM 990 Ignition Module and Accel Super Coil should be fine with exception to getting a MSD 6 box
Have any of u put in a stock like Ignition Module and seen more power? I can't see getting a $200 + MSD 6

Every electronic set up has a pre-determined "dwell" for firing the cylinder. It's often confused with the older point type dwell readings where that only referred to the dwell on the points. Typical "dwell" on the electronic stuff is 20 deg for 8 cyl, 60-70 deg for 6 cyl, and 80 for 4 cyl. Remeber, they are selling the "burn" time during crankshaft rotation for piston travel benefit.

so if I red it right dwell means nothing to HEI because it doesn’t rely on points

Take a look at the second link posted. I know it's a lot to absorb, but it really does 'splain a bit better of what, how, and why they do their job in firing the fuel.
