A box of 36 grit sandpaper on a grinder with a correct sized back up pad works good once you have the big chunks scraped off the frame.... Plain old grocery store oven cleaner sprayed on the firewall outside in the hot sun will remove a lot of the oil film and nasties. Cheap and easy.
