exhaust
I have a 96 dodge ram 1500 5.9L truck and i have the catback system for dual exhaust. i want to turn it into true dual so i was going to just not put another catalitic converter in but still have the stock one in on the one side. will this screw up my computer chip of do anything harmful to my engine?
thanks dusty
ps if i did this it would be an X pipe to equal the sound and pressure.

does your 96 have a cross over in front of the stock cat where the o2 sensor is located ? if so cut up the old system and add another cat then get a flowmaster style muffler that is dual in and out ..will tie back into your already dual pipes" SEE YA at the FINISH LINE " ! ........ratso

I'd check out what's available from Dodge that will bolt right on. My 91 dodge sevice truck had dual headpipes with a crossover between them stock. Hank

I personally don't think that you will gain very much by switching to true duals. I know that on my daily driven 4th generation ls1 equiped camaro I went from stock to cat-back to intake/headers/heads/cam/cat-back to true duals. The reason that I went true duals was everyone told me that my car would make more power with the free flowing exhaust. I put the car on a dyno after the head cam swap and then again after the true duals were put on and sadly I was not awarded by very much. I don’t think the minimal gains were worth the cost of the true duals. Just my opinion though.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
