Iceburgh - that very feature about the RF kit is why I bought mine. I ddn't want to have to try to store unnecessary or unused wires. Ron Francis has a new kit for newer cars and trucks (50's and 60's models) called Retro Series Wiring System for under $300. System is designed to be used with a specific engine such as a GM, Ford or Chrylser.
FFM - make sure what ever you decide on, the wires are sufficient to carry the load needed, especially the wiring from the alternator and the starter. Also would be nice to have wires that color coded and/or printed with names of the wire purpose. A lot of wiring companies do that now, but some scrimp on the wire quality.
".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
