Old 51' F1 has a hand operated e-brake. it isn't connected and working right now. I was thinking if I am going to fix it I might as well make it more friendly. I hate bending down to operate something. I thought I could go junkyard and find a foot operated (with the little hand operated release pull) instead. Is this an easy enough and straight forward conversion? Any reason not to do it?

I used the E brake pedal off of a mid 70's Chevy truck. Not too dificult to set up as it just bolts on. Most GM pedals are the same, but different sizes.
Lokar has a cable setup that will work from the pedal to whatever splitter setup you use. Splitter being something to operate the cables on each side. I used the stock splitter yoke from the 46. I think Lokar has something that will work for that too.
Take a look at Ranger pickups as well.
My old 89 had a foot pedal that looked to be easily adaptable to hot rods.
i use the setup from any of the 70's ford trucks. bolts to firewall and dash. got a lot of old dead ford trucks here on the farm :D

This was the same set up I used. I was lucky and the factory went to a foot brake the next year in the same body style. All the Lokar stuff worked out really clean.
