winter storage
I just bought a 69 c-10 with a punched out 454. I purchased it from a woman who's husband passed away last year (very sad story). I don't know if it was properly prepped for winter storage. All I know is that it was in an insulated garage (not heated). Winter is long and cold where I'm from. What can I do?

Change the oil, put some good gas in it if the tank is mostly empty, if not you can drain the gas. Change the fuel filter, insert key and crank. :whacked:
However, as I stated in another post to a gentleman that brought a car of his own out of storage and proceeded to hurt the car. CHECK ALL FLUIDS BEFORE IGNITION. Brake fluid, tranny fluid, top the rear end off, if it's 4WD, top the transfer case off, motor oil, etc. I say this because if you're like many gear heads, you'll want to take the ol' bird for a test drive once you have it started. It sure would be a shame to burn a tranny down or tear up a rear end because the fluid leaked out while in storage. Brakes are important because if you can't stop, then you might cause an accident. Safety and security first....Then "balls-to-the-wall" on the accelerator!

Other than draining the carbs and using Sta-bil in my gas tank, I store my cars in an unheated garage every year. This year was even longer storage since I broke my shoulder and couldn't do any fall/winter driving.
Change the oil, add fresh gas and drive the hell out of it. Works for me.:LOL: :LOL:
