steering issue
Hi, I'm building a car and need to make a little clearance for the oil pan, by bending the pitman arm and ideler arm down. Its also gong to help my bumpsteer, but i was wondering, is it best to heat the parts first, and how hot? Is this still safe? Thanks Mike s.

I've bent a lot of parts, and you want to heat it slowly and to a cherry red. Extend the heating a little beyond the actual bend so you don't force the part to bend unnaturally and crack the part. After bending, let it cool naturally, don't speed cool it. Just take your time and make sure it is truly red hot in that area.
