im thinking of installing a 9"ford and im thinking of getting an aluminum housing.
What u guys think? Whats the advantages and disadvantages?Is it worth it?

For the street???? If so, I would see no reason to bother with the extra expense of an aluminum housing.... Too many other places to take off weight a lot cheaper. Unsprung weight on a street car with street tires isn't really a critical factor. To justify an aluminum housing or center section, I would have to be doing some serious road racing or drag racing.
One of the biggest disadvantages is that everything you attach to the rear end for bracketry will have to be aluminum, too. If you have a tig welder, no big deal. If you have to hire the welding done, just more expense....
If you're doing it for the eye candy effect, then maybe a fabricated chrome moly housing might be more practical?????

If you look around and use a tape you might even find one that won't need narrowing. I know I seen a list of widths of ford rears floating around somewhere. Try a search maybe its was here I seen it.
