hey guys , im putting together a nice 32 ford and i currently keep updating my parts, or shall we say revising . so anyway i have a 8.8 rear end in the car now . i really like the look of the halibrand quickchange and or the winters stuff . my bank roll isnt high i go as i can , now question is what rear is a good choice here is my power combo currently

350 ci w 671 supercharger w all bells and whistles

muncie 4 spd trans m21

im not racing the car but some burnouts WILL happen , i want to maintain a strong rear axle assemble but also look cool . if you have info that may help please write in , thanks in advance

Well, the Winters is the stronger of the two, though it is very hard to beat the looks of an original Halibrand.... With the blower and all I would have to go with the Winters. I've had quickies in a couple cars, my only complaint is the noise, gets irritating on long cruises.....

Did you use the helix (sp?) cut gears or the straight cut? I was told the helix was quieter. I sure hope they are.

ive seen some sites with them does anyone have links to the good rear to get at a decent price?? thanks for the info .

a ver popular choice of late model dirt stock cars. ive seen my dad change gear ratios in like 5 minutes and its done. if you have some dirt tracks in your area, look at thier for sale boards at the tracks.

I put a Halibrand champ style in my truck. I found through a friend, it was manufactured in 1962 but never used. It was just the center case and the bells. I had to scrounge up all the parts which wasn't that bad. there is a lot of that stuff around if you ain't in a hurry. Everything was new except the posi unit but I went threw that. Curry rear ends put the tubes in and the ends on in there fixture after I welded my brackets on, and made the axles. I had to buy the main shaft and some seals from Halibrand. That was it, I have about $3200 in it but it's brand new with 4:11's in it. I had it polished and have been told buy friends of mine that the early casting polish nicer that the late stuff. Mine really looks nice. Hope this helps you make your decision, nothing looks better in a hiboy than a quick change. Just my opinion.

The helix gears are a lot quieter, but still make a good bit of whine.... The helix gears for me would at least be tolerable on a cruizer, just turn the radio up a bit louder!!!!!

Well, thanks, I'm going to buy bigger speakers now!!

i sold my fiberglass 32 body to a guy whom builds hot rods and he has a franklin qc rear that he can setup for me with whatever width i want with moser axels and disc brakes for approx 1400 , and the is with a new center gear in it for street use . sounds too good to pass up
