    Glasspacks Off Headers

Looking for some advice. Thinking of running purple hornies off my headers and dump pipe at rear axel instead of going all the way out back.

Well, if you don't mind an exhaust so loud it will be heard by every cop within 5 miles, should work fine..... Glass packs are just to loud and obnoxious without full length pipes to even sound good IMO.

Why not just run streight pipes out the rear with no glass packs. I did that for years in one of my p/u's.

The Dynomax part # 17694 Thrush Turbo muffler bolts directly to a 3" header flange, and has a great sound. It's similar to the old "Hush Thrush" that many of us ran on our muscle cars back in the day.

The Purple Hornies Part #: 50230FLT from FlowTech (Holley) is a pure glasspack header muffler.

I prefer the turbos myself. Nice rumble. The glasspacks tend to have a "cackle" and do a lot of popping (racking) when you back off the throttle.

id say turbo muffler myself i had both and the glass pack will give you a headache also and attract cops and mad neighbors, but the turbo mufflers sound good and they can be mellow for those nights pullin into the driveway late

Save yourself a lot of tickets, and don't hang any muffler immediately off the header.Mount the mufflers as far back as you can get them, connect up with at least 2 1/4 pipe with a balance tube. Hank
